The building reopened in 2025 after extensive restoration work and now charges an entrance fee, but visitors consistently report it's worth the price for the quality exhibits and can easily spend over an hour inside. The museum gift shop is highly recommended for unique Shima Enaga (long-tailed tit) souvenirs—reportedly the best selection in Sapporo.
