About This Site
A Japan Travel Guide Built by People Who Actually Go
Rebound Travel is an independent Japan travel guide for foreign visitors — covering cities, attractions, onsen, food destinations, and hidden gems across all regions of Japan. We don't work for a tourism board. We just love Japan.
Who We Are
This site is maintained by Japan-based travel enthusiasts who have personally visited hundreds of destinations across the country — from the well-known (Kyoto, Tokyo, Osaka) to the truly off-the-beaten-path (Tono, Tsuwano, Yufuin back streets).
We've navigated rural train schedules in Tohoku, soaked in rotenburo at mountain onsen in Nagano, eaten through street food alleys in Fukuoka, and gotten pleasantly lost in castle towns in Shikoku. That firsthand experience shapes every page on this site.
Our database currently covers 1,000+ spots across all 8 regions of Japan, with detailed pages for 130+ cities, ranked lists, and practical travel guides — all written in English for the international visitor.
What Makes This Guide Different
All Regions, Not Just Tokyo
Most English guides focus on the Golden Route. We cover Tohoku, Shikoku, Kyushu, Chugoku — the Japan most visitors never see.
Searchable & Filterable
Filter spots by region, category, or keyword. Find onsen towns, hiking spots, historic districts, and food destinations in seconds.
Honest Hotel Recommendations
Our best-hotels pages cover luxury, mid-range, and budget options — with area guides so you stay in the right neighborhood.
Practical Travel Guides
JR Pass, SIM cards, cash vs. card, onsen etiquette — the practical stuff that actually matters when you land.
Our Approach to Content
Every spot in our database is verified against multiple sources: Google Places, official tourism boards, and on-the-ground knowledge. Ratings, opening hours, and access information are reviewed and updated regularly.
We use technology to scale our coverage — but the editorial judgment, local tips, and "best for" classifications come from real travel experience, not automation alone.
We're independent. We earn a small commission if you book hotels or tours through links on this site (via Booking.com and Viator) — at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the guide free and up to date.
