💡 Tips for Visitors

Check tide schedules before visiting as the gate's appearance changes dramatically between high and low tide - both views are spectacular but completely different. The best photo opportunities are typically at sunset when the gate glows against the sky, or about 1-2 hours before low tide when it's partially surrounded by water. Ferry access from Miyajima-guchi takes about 10 minutes, and most shops near the shrine accept credit cards though small vendors may be cash-only.
