Visit early in the morning between October and March for the best chance to see the famous mist rising from the lake. Most nearby cafes and shops accept cash only, so bring yen. The lake is a 15-minute walk from Yufuin Station and makes an excellent start to exploring the charming hot spring town of Yufuin.
