Kiyomizu-dera is a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage temple perched on a hillside in eastern Kyoto, famous for its wooden stage that juts out 13 meters above the valley floor without using a single nail. Founded in 778, this historic Buddhist temple offers breathtaking panoramic views of Kyoto and is especially stunning during cherry blossom season in spring and vibrant foliage in autumn. Arrive early in the morning (before 9 AM) to avoid large crowds, especially during peak seasons.
