The small wooden station building itself exudes rustic charm and marks the beginning of a spiritual journey through ancient cedar forests and legendary hiking trails, including the famous path to Kibune village. 💡 Tips for Visitors
The Eizan Railway line to Kurama requires a separate fare from regular Kyoto subway passes, so purchase tickets at the station. Most signs have English translations, but staff may have limited English ability—have your destination written in Japanese if possible. Visit during autumn for spectacular fall foliage, and note that the mountain area can be 5-10 degrees cooler than downtown Kyoto, so bring a light jacket even in warmer months.
