🌿 Nature & Parks · kyoto, Kyoto
Fushimi Castle, also known as Momoyama Castle, is a stunning reconstruction of the historic fortress originally built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the 1590s. The castle sits majestically atop a hill with distinctive white walls and golden roof ornaments, offering panoramic views of southern Kyoto and the surrounding areas. Though the current structure is a modern replica that now houses a museum, it remains an impressive example of Japan's castle architecture and provides insight into the country's feudal era.

💡 Tips for Visitors
The castle grounds and exterior can be photographed year-round, but note that the interior museum is currently closed to the public, so visits are limited to viewing from outside and walking the surrounding park. The best time to visit is during cherry blossom season in early April when the grounds are particularly photogenic. Access is easiest by train to Momoyama-Goryo-mae Station or Kintetsu Momoyama Station, followed by a 15-minute uphill walk.
