Magome Pass is a historic mountain pass along the ancient Nakasendo Trail connecting the post towns of Magome and Tsumago in the Kiso Valley. This scenic hiking route takes you through pristine forests, past waterfalls, and offers glimpses into old Japan with well-preserved Edo-period architecture. The moderately challenging trail takes about 2-3 hours to complete and rewards hikers with stunning valley views and an authentic taste of traditional Japan.

π‘ Tips for Visitors
The trail is best hiked from Magome downhill to Tsumago for an easier experience. Bring cash as the mountain pass and nearby villages have limited card payment options. English signage is available along the trail, and luggage forwarding services between the two towns are offered for around 500 yen per bag.
