Murin-an Garden is a stunning example of a Meiji-era Japanese landscape garden located in the Kyoto's Okazaki district, designed by the renowned gardener Ogawa Jihei VII for statesman Yamagata Aritomo. The garden features a serene pond fed by waters from the Lake Biwa Canal, carefully pruned trees, and expansive lawn areas that blend traditional Japanese aesthetics with Western influences. Visitors can also tour the historic two-story villa where important political discussions once took place, including meetings that shaped modern Japan.
